Why it matters

No new government is in place, so Ulf Kristersson's caretaker government must put the 2027 budget bill to the Riksdag by 12 November. It will be a transitional budget with no new reforms. In 2018 the Riksdag set aside a caretaker's budget and adopted the Moderate and Christian Democrat alternative. This time the opposition holds 176 of 349 seats and the Tidö parties 173.
